What is SEN Connect?

SEN Connect is our online community platform where Gates Millennium Scholars alumni and friends gather, share resources, build connections, and stay informed about opportunities within the network.

Think of it as the digital home base for our community—a space where you can find fellow scholars and friends in your field or city, discover professional opportunities, engage in conversations about the work we're building, and share resources that support your personal, professional, and civic goals.

Local Meet-ups: Make it happen

You don't need permission. Pick a date and find a place.

The power of this network isn't just in what we build formally—it's in the connections we create informally. Coffee meetups. Happy hours. Professional networking brunches. Community service projects. These gatherings strengthen our network one conversation at a time.

YOU can organize one. Below is more information to help get you started:

  • Casual Hangouts
    Coffee shop catch-ups, happy hours at a local bar, game nights.

    Professional Networking
    Industry-specific gatherings, career discussions, volunteer-led workshops.

    Community Service
    Volunteer days, neighborhood cleanups, mentoring sessions with local students.

    Cultural & Social
    Book clubs, hiking groups, dinner parties, alumni reunions, watch parties for major events.

    Skill Shares
    Workshop sessions where scholars teach each other (coding, investing, public speaking, grant writing).

    No event is too small. Two people meeting for coffee counts. Five scholars grabbing dinner counts. It all strengthens the network.

    • Online workshops or panels

    • Click "Create Event"

    • Fill in the details:

      • Event title (e.g., "Detroit GMS Happy Hour" or "Bay Area STEM Professionals Brunch")

      • Date, time, location

      • Description (what to expect, who should come, any costs)

    • Add a photo or graphic to make it eye-catching

    • Publish it!
